Reverend Lemora B. Dobbs

Reverend Lemora B. Dobbs, an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, was appointed to serve as Pastor of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Decatur, GA in June 2017.  A spirit filled believer, passionate preacher, and dynamic leader, Rev. Dobbs brings more than 11 years of pastoral experience to the Mt. Zion congregation and its surrounding community.  Prior to being appointed to Mt. Zion, Rev. Dobbs served as Senior Pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Canton, GA.  Under Pastor Dobbs’ leadership, God blessed St. Paul to define its mission “Saving Souls and Building Stronger Christian Lives, One Person At A Time”, to take its ministry outside the four walls of the church, to increase the community’s awareness of St. Paul, and to grow the church spiritually, numerically and financially.  Additionally, God blessed the church to start new ministries including the Dance/Mime Ministry, the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, the Young Adult Council, and the Marketing Ministry.  Further, God blessed St. Paul to receive two Worship Renewal Grants from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, a Community Service Grant from the Constellation Energy Foundation, a $10,000.00 grant from the Joe E. Johnston Foundation, to open the Canton satellite location of Papa’s Pantry, and to form a partnership with Forever Fed Ministries to address the felt needs of residents in the Canton/Cherokee County community.

Rev. Dobbs currently serves as an Advisory Board member of Candler School of Theology, Secretary of the Atlanta North Georgia Annual Conference of the AME Church, and Mentor to several men and women in business and ministry.  Possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, Rev. Dobbs recently founded Consultative Innovations, a sole proprietorship dedicated to providing consulting services to churches and businesses.  A Board Certified Chaplain, Rev. Dobbs is employed by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a PRN Chaplain.

Rev. Dobbs holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Education degree in Employee Counseling from Georgia State University.  She also holds a Master of Divinity degree cum laude from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.  Rev. Dobbs is currently pursuing studies towards the Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.  Her doctoral research focuses on Storytelling as a Pastoral Care Intervention that Ministers Healing to Adult Parishioners Who Have Experienced Violence.

Rev. Dobbs is married to Donald Dobbs; and they have three children (Tobias, Christina and Tiffany) and two grandchildren (Brianna and Madison).
